Letters to the Editor
Help please, commissioner
Thursday, January 12, 2012
Dear Editor:
This is an open letter to the Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington.
It is 5:15am on a Sunday and I have not slept a wink because of nerve-shattering music coming from Manor Park in Constant Spring.
Music is played at unbearable decibel levels during the week and on weekends until daylight.
It is unfathomable that the Constant Spring Police Station is a stone's throw away from where the music is being played and no action is taken shut it down at the time prescribed by our laws.
Is it that the police themselves are enjoying the DJ's selections and whiling away the hours until a shift change?
What has happened to the much touted Noise Abatement Act? Do we need another pending extradition matter for our laws to be strictly enforced?
Please, Mr Commissioner, let us not destroy the gains we have made.
In the meantime, I will be dying for a good night's sleep!
