What a beautifully written and balanced column Betty Ann Blaine has done on the smear campaign by Jamaican homosexuals in the Jamaica Observer of July 10, 2012. The truth always wins out in the end. It is so very often supported by documented evidence - statistics and data - which are not manufactuted or skewed.
It is a fact that God made man and gave a set of rules to ensure he has a better quality of life - this includes the joy of sex and procreation in safe and natural ways. Which mother can forget the joy of holding her newborn in her arms after a painful and traumatic labour and thinking: "It is worth every minute of the pain and suffering, even if I did feel I would die from that pain." Yes, adoptive parents feel joy too, intense and sincere joy, but the joy of the struggle of giving birth to be rewarded with the most precious gift of a child is something that those who do not give birth miss out on. They do not experience the joy of feeling the child growing inside, the first kick, talking to the growing bump, and, expressing their love daily.
As a homosexual, it is not something you can share with your partner, knowing the child is part of both of you, the product of your love.
If we stop to examine it, we have a better quality of life by obeying the laws of God. Sexually trasmitted infections are physically damaging. Syphilis leads to blindness and infertility. Gonorrhoea, chlamydia and other STDs cause Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, which results in sterility and are aften gateways to particular types of cancers. AIDS - we all know about it, don't we? It's a killer. So are hepatitis B and C which are also sexually transmitted. The treatments for these diseases are expensive - they are diseases directly resulting from our lifestyle choices. They take away money from treating the diseases we can't avoid.
AIDS has been traced back to chimpanzees in the heart of the African jungle. So how did man get it? Perhaps by being bitten, perhaps through eating meat contaminated by the virus, perhaps in some other way. Sexual chasteness and fidelity to one partner will prevent the spread of diseases. The vaginal cavity can be cleaned with soap and water; the anal cavity by its very purpose and location cannot be thoroughly cleaned in this way. It is filled with bacteria. God did not make it for sexual pleasure. That is the reason it becomes a vehicle for spreading infections. Few homosexuals partner for life. The rate of marital success is much lower than heterosexuals.
The statistics on homosexuality prove that God is right. But then He always is.
