Letters to the Editor
Job well done
Sunday, February 07, 2010
Dear Editor,
This is an open letter to Acting Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington.
Sir, I take great pleasure in commending members of your Major Investigation Task Force on solving the case of businessman Donovan “Pope” Campbell. They are:
• Detective Sergeant S Campbell – #8911
• Detective Corporal D Grant – #6650
• Detective Corporal C Maye – #10555
• Detective Constable T Archer – #10270
• Detective Constable D Boothe – #11294
Mr Campbell was brutally murdered on Friday, May 1, 2009 at the intersection of Hopefield Avenue and Hope Road, Kingston 6.
The above officers were assigned to the case, and from its inception gathered pertinent information and worked assiduously until the perpetrators of the crime were brought to justice. These officers have shown what it truly means to “serve, protect and assure”.
I can truly say they have renewed my trust in the police force and it is my hope that they will inspire their colleagues to be relentless in their pursuit of justice for every Jamaican citizen.
It was really refreshing to come across these officers as there are times when the police force is bashed for being unprofessional when dealing with civilians. These gentlemen will always stand out as stalwarts in the police force. I am certain that they will continue to serve Jamaica diligently and honestly as they continue the fight against crime.
Gentlemen, if ever you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place.
