Prostitutes in heat on the 'Back Road'

Friday, October 12, 2012

Dear Editor,

The behaviour of sex workers on the 'Back Road' in Portmore is disgraceful, to say the least. This is a road that is used by everyone all day. It is not an isolated red light district. You travel the area with your children and they are being exposed to half-naked women selling themselves shamelessly and with a boldness of dogs in heat. This behaviour serves to further desensitise our children and devalue our moral standards.

We cannot continue to have sex workers parading their stuff at any time of day without regard for others. If this area is becoming a red light district, it should be so zoned and laws laid down for the prostitutes to follow so that some form of civility can be restored to that section of Portmore. They must not be allowed to go on that stretch of roadway before 10:00 o'clock at night and must leave the road by 4:00 am. The mayor must take charge of his municipality and do something about the prostitutes on the Port Henderson "Back Road".
