I watch and listen in bitter dismay at the resignations by public sector workers who have been contracted by the Government of Jamaica under the JLP and PNP administrations. While I can appreciate the practice of allowing the political directorate of the day to have a free hand as they guide policies, certainly there

must be a more productive way of resolving this situation.

What has been of greater concern is what appears to be the high cost for services not rendered that the country's taxpayers will incur as a result of premature termination of contracts, between the Government of Jamaica and the employees contracted. At the risk of appearing politically biased to some, I will not cite any example. However, I will ask that as a nation we look into these matters carefully, especially given that, because of this practice, young people like myself think twice about our ambitions to occupy senior posts in the public service.
