Letters to the Editor

Why publish?

Thursday, August 23, 2012

Dear Editor,

I refer to your Monday, August 20 news item on the murder of Ms Clover Graham, attorney-at-law, and in particular a photograph of her prostrate body on page 4.

I write to decry your publication of this photograph which appears to be contrary to the normal practice of your newspaper.

It was unnecessarily heartless to Ms Graham's family and friends to display her body in the undignified state depicted in the photograph. Therefore, in my view, your newspaper has departed from the high standards of journalism one expects from a paper of your calibre.
