Feeling antiZOSOcial

Dear Editor,

What really is ZOSO but just a fancy name for a sustained curfew with very little else.

Every government comes with this short-term, cordon-and-search operation that only lasts for a time and nothing is really accomplished.

There is no seed planted that will grow and blossom into results. No sustainable projects like training centres, domestic industries, or other social developments that will empower the residents, only fancy promises that sound good on paper and make for good sound bites.

So, after a couple of months it will be back to square one. Politicians have for far too long been pussyfooting around the crime monster, because what it boils down to is that they, themselves, are too tangled up in the crime web. So when they attempt to address it, what results is just a token response.
