Dear Editor,

I would like to strongly suggest that pedestrian overpasses — similarly to the overpass on Marescaux Road that connects the Wolmer's schools — be erected on busy roads that are lacking pedestrian crossings.

There is also the need for traffic lights on busy thoroughfares so people who wish to cross, in order to access a public building, a place of business, or simply to get to the other side, may do so.

Too often it is observed that pedestrians dash across the roads when the chance presents itself because a lot of thoughtless motorists, for whatever reason, seem to be determined not to stop to allow them to cross. It is a shame to see a pedestrian standing at the sidewalk waiting to cross and as many as 30-something vehicles simply zip by until one kind driver eventually comes to a halt with the usual up and down movement of his arm outside of his window signalling motorists behind him.

Structure will be especially helpful in the vicinity of schools so that students can cross safely.
