Destroying Jamaica

Saturday, March 05, 2005

Dear Editor,

I am now convinced that there is a calculating, diabolical plot to systematically destroy this country. There was a time when I would hear people saying these things and I would wonder if they were mad. I have seen enough to be convinced of its truth.

Every aspect of our legal departments is to be questioned. Lawyers being debarred or imprisoned, police officers involved in hold-ups, criminals dressing in police uniforms, kidnapping and killing, innocent police officers being asked to take the blame, judges making obviously unjust judgements, media houses lacking the ethics of their foreign counterparts, some taking the side of criminals, trying cases against law officers in the press, media houses again showing the faces and publishing the names of witnesses - the list is endless.

Worse, we are being fed a diet of wrong that must be accepted as right. Recently, Judy Mowatt, a Christian minister of religion, expressed her views on an issue that is condemned by her religion, in accordance to the God she serves. Apparently she was upbraided and accused of spending a certain amount of time lambasting homosexuality. If she wanted to spend the whole sermon lambasting it, what would be wrong with that? It is immoral conduct that is an affront to God. The Bible speaks of His judgement of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Torah and even in the new testaments. This misconduct was not referred to in gentler ways.

If you hate hearing about the abhorrence of homosexuality, then you are without doubt going to hate God, and I will not whisper it. God hates it! One cannot be a Christian and a practising homosexual - that is unheard of. The homosexual Anglican priest who married his male lover and the many other priests who are practising homosexuality are not Christians. This is not a surprise to God, because the scriptures say that there will be a time when certain men will creep into the church, unawares... their agenda will be exposed soon. What true Christians are to do, is to look out for them and resist them.

Of course, I am not going to kill a homosexual, but if somebody does so because of what the act represents, I will hate the crime but not the criminal, just as I hate the act of homosexuality but not the person. One might say all sin is sin. Well, that might be true, whether it is scriptural or not but the Bible did say sexual sin is committed within the body, while the others are not. It further reminded us that our bodies are the temple of the living God.
