Look at water for Cockpit Country

Dear Editor,
I endorse John Maxwell's recent articles on the Cockpit Country in the Observer. They are balanced, well-reasoned and factual. And believe it or not, also "prophetic".
However, I would have liked Mr Maxwell to have explored the question of water as a scarce commodity of the not-too-distant future. Already the Americans are making demands on Canadians for their water- doing the exact thing Mr Maxwell has described in his articles - where there is an overabundance of rivers and lakes. Please forward copies of your articles, Mr Maxwell, to every government minister and every member of the Opposition; the universities, the civic societies, the leaders of the church organisations and regional governments. The necessary pressure and awareness must be maintained in order to prevent this planned catastrophe. Mr Maxwell, thanks again for caring about my children's and grandchildren's future. May God grant you the stamina never to be weary to continue to speak the truth with clarity and power.
