Call in the fraud squad

Friday, May 02, 2008

Dear Editor,

The intentional behaviour of RIU should not be tolerated in Jamaica. They must remember that they are guests. Not because they are investing millions of dollars should they think they must do as they please. RIU must obey Jamaican laws, rules and regulations. Jamaica is not a banana republic where people do as they please.

Not all Jamaicans will benefit from RIU's investment because not all Jamaicans will be working at their hotels when their hotels are up and running. Most likely the management will be paying minimum wage or they will outsource some of their work to employment agencies which do not pay for overtime and benefits.

The mayor of Montego Bay should call in the fraud squad and the police should be knocking at the door of the superintendent of roads and works for St James. It is good news that the extra floor that has been added to the approved structure is being demolished.
