Can't wait for another FNO

Tuesday, November 03, 2009

Dear Editor,
Enough time has passed for reflection on Fashion's Night Out and the enormous, almost incalculably positive push it gave this country. We say almost incalculably because, beyond the tremendous bounce we and most retailers got in sales, there was an enormous amount of goodwill floating around as people bought into the whole concept with genuine enthusiasm and a spirit of fun which was just impossible to quantify.

Time and again we heard people describe the event as Christmas coming early and even more specifically that it was like "ole time Christmas come back again". The feel-good factor was palpable. We witnessed people parking their cars and walking all over Half Way Tree way into the night from Merrick Avenue and higher, right down to Clock Tower Plaza, chatting and laughing and soaking up the good vibe and atmosphere without any fear or any trepidation whatsoever. The way any major city should be.

We felt genuine pride to be a part of FNO. We therefore have to thank the Observer for this fantastic event and perhaps more specifically we have to thank the dynamic Novia McDonald-Whyte for this vision, and of course we look forward to bigger and better next year, when downtown Kingston and the other major cities and towns will be incorporated. We can't wait!!
