Dear Editor,

The Jamaica Observer editorial dated Wednesday, February 4, 2019 and headlined 'We all need to stand against crime' is absolutely correct.

The brutal murder of People's National Party's Member of Parliament of Portland Eastern Lynvale Bloomfield is shocking, disgraceful and scandalous in every respect, and pointedly demonstrates that we have some some very callous, wicked and evil murderers within the Jamaican society.

It is so sad to hear and read of his death under such circumstances. He was factually a hard-working, dedicated, devoted, professional, and calm Member of Parliament who took his job and role seriously, and I dare say did it with distinction, probity and humility. He was one Member of Parliament who was totally committed to his constituents and was close to them, based on all reports relating to him since being elected an MP. This two-term Member of Parliament was honest and hard-working and operated under the highest levels of integrity, character and morals. He will be greatly missed.

I do sincerely hope and pray that his killers will be found, arrested and brought to justice before the courts. Both political parties at the highest levels have articulated their sadness at his dastardly cruel murder which has shocked the entire island and political landscape.

I offer my condolence to his dear family and hope that justice will be effected in the shortest possible time by arresting the culprits so involved.

Robert Dalley
