Dear Editor,

As we usher in 2018, the Optimist International Caribbean District calls on Jamaica and the rest of the region to do all that lies within our power to make each country a safer and more enjoyable place in which our children and young people can live.

In the new year may our resolve be to do all that we can as organisations and individuals in the interest of the welfare of our young people.

As Optimists, we view the world through the philosophical lenses of hope, no matter the prevailing conditions.

We, therefore, invite you to share this view and support our anti-bullying campaign to make our communities a caring environment for our youth.

A happy and prosperous 2018 to all the peoples of the region.

Calvin A Hunter
