Dear Editor,

The issues surrounding Petrojam, commonly referred to as a scandal, are steeped in mystery and skullduggery. And the major responses seem to be about blame game and finger-pointing by both those in and out of power.

Something that seems quite evident is that malfeasance has existed over a considerable period, which has involved both political parties, although it may have escalated during the present regime.

I am an ardent reader of detective stories and among my favourites is the indomitable Sherlock Holmes who used his wits and power of observation to solve his cases.

If he had been given the task of solving the mystery of the Petrojam scandal I believe he would immediately recognise that since this has been going on for such a long time we should look at who or what has been common to both regimes, whether personnel or systems.

I believe that this is where a probe should start if we are to get to the bottom of this apparent scam and identify the perpetrator(s).

The suggestion by the senator that a foreign investigator may be employed is not such a bad idea.
