Take warning!
Dear Editor,
When Noah was building the ark he told the people that a great flood was coming to destroy the Earth and they should prepare themselves for the onslaught. But they did not believe him. They laughed him to scorn. But their mockery and laughter were turned to bitter-sorrow.
There is an old Jamaican reggae song that goes says: “Take warning, yuh betta take warning...yuh betta do good...”
Many Jamaicans are not heeding the warning that we must love one another. It means nothing to them.
We place a high value on materialism. We worship material things, and make them our idols.
Poor people are like nothing in Jamaica. When Jesus was on Earth, how did he treat the poor? You already know the answer. Suppose he were to treat us as we treat the poor?
I am calling upon my fellow Jamaicans: Let us love people more than vanity. Let us respect and appreciate people and put vanity on the back burner.
