Dear Editor,

When US President Donald Trump subjects the pain of a sexual assault victim to public humiliation and mocks that person to the rapturous laughter of his followers (including women), he is going against someone far greater than he is.

Trump built a business empire reportedly through tax cheating, allegedly won the presidency on the backs of black and brown people, and used the power accruing from that office to turn himself into an authoritarian ruler.

Like any other dictator, Donald Trump rules by fear in order to ensure loyalty to himself. He controls the executive, the Congress, and will soon appoint another lackey to the Supreme Court in order to control that body as well.

This man and his supporters think that he is God. He is not my God!

My God is in heaven and that is why when I pray I saying, “Pater noster, qui es in caelis...”

There have been other Donald Trumps before, and there will be more in the future, but, like the rest of us, he will eventually have to answer to a power from on high. On that day he will have to go to the exchange counter and hand in his crown for his cross.
