We know the truth
Dear Editor,
Just read the Jamaica Observer's 'Undiplomatic' and noted that Jamaicans' feathers were ruffled recently by a United Nations safety and security officer who gave a briefing to visiting members of the regional meeting on waste management held at the Jamaica Conference Centre recently.
We must note that members of the embassy are required by law to provide security briefings to all US citizens visiting or residing in any foreign country. They also, by law, must disclose any and all information they are aware of to all citizens. It is a breach for them to withhold any such information.
The gentleman was, therefore, bound by the law to provide visiting citizens with all the information or pay the price, as his country will enforce the law against him.
We know the truth, we just don't like to hear it being repeated by foreigners.
