Dear Editor,

Many of us have long concluded that our country, Jamaica, is special, in the very best sense of the word. We are known for our graciousness, particularly towards visitors. But, why are we turning upon ourselves? It has become so acute, this viciousness amongst our people, that foreigners are being cautioned against coming to our country.

Collectively, we appear to be sleeping, while a minority of clowns, with scant regard for what is deemed one of the most beautiful places on Earth, continue to tarnish our reputation on a global scale. We must rouse ourselves and act decisively to dispel any thinking that:

Jamaica a trap.

Yu haffi watch yu back.

Is one American advisory leggo dat

Fi caution dem citizen from coming, or come back

To a place, weh dem tink, jus a leggo gun-shat!

Who, now, can blame dem from fraid a wi?

Look how wi buil' up wi nation an' den a destroy i'!

Wi still ina slavery, doah is we have di whip

Jus a beat up wi self like downright sadists!

Nobody can help wi.

Wi mus' help wiself.

Wi all know di problems.

Dem a give off a stench.

Wi mus' check wiself

Check relations an' friends

An' if wi discover dem is poison

Try fi detox dem!

If dem beyon' redemption, mek di law tek set

Because wi kyaa mek tru dem

Di whole country wreck!

Jamaica, a trap?

Wi kyaa afford dat!

Yes, people a pray.

Wi need more dan dat.

Right now, wi caught up in a revolution

Wi mus' unite fi ketch di solution!

Mi doah know bout hoonu

But me naw go no weh

Mek wi save Jamaica!

Is dat mi a seh.

Jamaica, a trap?

Jamaica under watch?

Wi Jamdown between a hard place an' a rock?

Mek wi stan' up an tek wi country out a shock!

Wi kyaa retreat.

Wi kyaa afford fi bak-bak.

Wi kyaa retreat!

Wi kyaa afford fi bak-bak!

Seriously, is time fi ak.

Dis debilitating, disconcerting debacle must stop!
