Won't sell out for a visa!

Dear Editor,

Because I'm not one of those Jamaicans who put a United States visa over Jamaica I can speak freely without fear.

The US Embassy in Jamaica and the US State Department know that most countries value a visa to their country so they are now using it as a tool to get people to conform to their lifestyle, principles and values.

I strongly believe the United States Embassy in Jamaica should never cross the boundaries on certain issues. I will never support them using their visa as a weapon to control behaviour.

Take, for example, the fact that most dancehall artistes can't even sing that they are against homosexuality and same-sex marriage again because they know they won't get a visa or their visas will be taken away.

One thing I know, I, like many Jamaicans, might tolerate homosexuality, but we will always be against it. So the United States Embassy can keep their visa.

Peter Phillips's secret memorandum of understanding wasn't right and I don't support it.

I will support the revocation of visas in cases in which there is strong evidence of corruption and ties to crime and violence. I will support security agreements between both countries once it's constitutional and doesn't trample upon the rights of our citizens.

I will also support any trade agreements with both country once we benefit from it also. I will always be with the West over China and Russia, but if this independent nation wants to have trade agreements with those countries I believe we should be able to do so without our politicians visas being taken away.

I am a conservative, nationalist and a capitalist, so I won't support socialism and communism.

No one can punish our citizens for travelling to Cuba, or even China.

I kinda like the new US Ambassador to Jamaica Donald Tapia, he's way better than the previous ones, especially in the last eight years. I don't see this one pushing the gay agenda. Maybe I'm talking too soon.

Politicians messed up our country, so many Jamaicans put the US visa over their country. But I'm one of the few patriotic Jamaicans who would rather to stay here in Jamaica and suffer than to sell out our morals and country for a visa.
