With its breathtaking view of the lagoon and beautiful outdoors, one could easily get lost in the beauty of Brian and Shelagh Jardim's new home at Emerald Cay in Montego Bay. It could easily have been the centre of attention last Friday. Truth be told, it was, but then again so was the beef sizzling on the grill.
Invited guests enjoyed a selection of Rainforest Ready Burgers smartly paired with beers from Select Brands' ever-increasing and impressive range of beverages. The event — the summer launch of both companies' Burgers & Beer, with proceeds from the international bar in aid of the We Care for Cornwall Regional Hospital fund - saw five neatly designated burger and beer stations seamlessly integrated into the decor providing pairings to match even the most discerning palate.
Rainforest chefs were kept busy at the grill serving 100 % beef burgers paired with ice-cold Budweiser beer; turkey burger paired with Odoul's non-alcoholic malt; and a fish burger paired with Bud Light, and with five other tasty burger-and-beer pairings to try, DJ Crazy Neil dropping hits in the background, fire pit on the "beach", the evening was a resounding success.

Ichiban means first in Japanese, and Kirin Ichiban Lager beer has truly become one of the world's leading Japanese beers. The fact that it has achieved this feat since its introduction, as recently as 1990, is a testament to this beer's legendary purity, freshness and clean finish. It is full-bodied enough for distinctive flavour, yet has the subtlety to allow for pairings with a variety of cuisines, not only Japanese.
Rainforest Ready Shrimp 'burgers' are made from a blend of ground and whole shrimp and seasoned with specially formulated spices and herbs. These shrimp sliders are topped with a teriyaki glaze and sushi ginger to enhance the crisp, clean flavours of the Kirin.
Newcastle Brown Ale & Bacon Burger
Epitomising the strength, hardiness and vigour of its North English birthplace, Newcastle Brown Ale is a highly popular and fast-growing beer worldwide. Its deep red colour is an indication of its full-bodied and hearty nature.
Rainforest Ready Bacon burgers are a combination of beef and bacon strips, enhanced with selected flavourings. This rich, hearty burger is the ideal accompaniment for the Newcastle Brown Ale.
Singha Lager Beer & Jerk Snapper Burger
As the only Thai beer permitted to display the royal "Garuda" on its label, Singha Lager Beer epitomises the best of Thailand. As that country's leading beer, Singha has a long and distinguished history and has continued to grow its sales. It is a perfect balance of freshness and body, with only a hint of selected bitter hops.
To illustrate the versatility of Rainforest Ready burgers, a jerk fish taco using slices of the flavourful Rainforest Ready Jerk Snapper was created. The fish taco, lightly drizzled with a Thai Coconut Curry Sauce, is the ideal companion to the Singha.
Budweiser & 100% Beef Burger
This beer is a true American icon and needs little introduction. Though a proud native of the USA, Budweiser's history and origins go back to Europe and it is a distillation of the best practices of the best lagers in the World. It is a beer that offers a light, refreshing and clear accompaniment to burgers and other foods normally associated with the USA.

Bud Light & Snapper Burger
Introduced in 1982, Bud Light is the lower-alcohol version of Budweiser. Since then it has grown exponentially in sales and now rivals its brother beer, Budweiser, in global presence. As its name suggests, it is a light and refreshing beer that pairs well with foods with subtle flavours, allowing the character of those foods to stand out.
Rainforest Ready Fish Burgers are made from 100% Caribbean snapper and seasoned to perfection. The delicate flavours of the fish and beer are perfectly suited to one another.
Stella Artois & Seasoned Beef Burger
Stella Artois beer is not only one of the oldest beers in the world, it is also one of the oldest brands in existence. Brewed since 1366 in Belgium's medieval city of Leuven, this brand has over 700 years of heritage and has been pleasing palates around the world. More popular than ever, "Stella" has its own personality arising from its ideal, time-tested balance of distinctive aroma, light body and clean finish. A very versatile beer that, like its multicultural homeland, pairs well with almost any type of food.
A dash of onion and garlic powder to the Rainforest Ready Seasoned Beef enhances the rich flavour of the beef and a hearty seasoned beef chilli, paired with an ice-cold Stella, made a perfect combination.
Stone's Ginger Beer & Jerk Beef Burger
"Jamaican At Heart"
Renowned for its 'refreshing ginger bite', Stone's ginger beer is Jamaica's best-selling alcoholic ginger beer. Its crisp, clean finish and aromatic effervescence make this beverage a great way to cool off spicy foods.
Rainforest Ready Jerk Beef Burgers have just the right amount of "kick" from the world- famous Walkerswood blend of jerk seasoning. Topped with grilled pineapple and caramelised onions, this pairing embodies the distinct flavours of the Caribbean.
O'Doul's & Turkey Burger
O'Doul's Original is a non-alcoholic malt beverage produced by the global leader Anheuser Busch. Because it is brewed and processed as a conventional beer - the alcohol is removed afterwards - O'Doul's retains many of the distinct flavours and much of the complexity of alcohol-containing beers. This first cousin of Budweiser has a light and refreshing taste and a slightly dry, semi-sweet finish that makes it an ideal accompaniment for a broad spectrum of foods. No designated driver needed!
Rainforest Ready Turkey Burgers are made from choice, boneless, turkey meat and seasoned to perfection. These turkey burgers on a whole wheat bun and with a dollop of guacamole are light on calories but big on flavour!
