Arnold Schwarzenegger displays a flabby middle

Monday, September 05, 2011

He made his name as a bodybuilder, competing in the famous Mr Universe competition. But it seems Arnold Schwarzenegger has slipped a little from his early days as a ripped muscle-bound star. The 64-year-old actor displayed a touch of middle-aged spread as he performed some stretching exercises after a tough bicycle ride Wednesday last. As his T-shirt rode up, Arnold's somewhat flabbier middle was shown to onlookers during his warm down. Cycling seems to be one of Arnold's favourite methods of exercise -- he is often seen on his bike around Los Angeles. The actor became famous for his pumped up torso in early movie roles such as Conan the Barbarian in the eponymous 1982 film and its 1984 sequel Conan the Destroyer. Before embarking on a successful movie career, Arnold mainly focused on his bodybuilding career when he first came to America back in 1968, winning the prestigious professional bodybuilding contest, Mr Olympia, seven times between 1969 and 1980.

HawthoRNe cancelled after three seasons

Just a week after weathering rumours of an infidelity with Marc Anthony, Jada Pinkett-Smith has suffered another blow. TNT confirmed on Friday that medical drama Hawthorne, in which she starred alongside the singer, has been cancelled. The show ran for three seasons, premiering on US channel TNT back in 2009. In the last season, Pinkett-Smith's character Christina Hawthorne shared steamy scenes with Marc's character (Detective Nick Renata). It led to reports that Jada, wife of Will Smith, had shared an off-screen fling with Jennifer Lopez's now estranged husband. All parties have strenuously denied the claims. Writing on social networking site Twitter, Jada thanked her fans for their loyal support. She wrote: "Hey everyone... if you don't know HawthoRNe will not be returning for another season." In a statement Friday last, TNT confirmed: "TNT has decided not to order a fourth season of HawthoRNe. We wish everyone involved with HawthoRNe nothing but the best."

Lindsay Lohan slapped with parking fine

It seems like hardly a day passes without Lindsay Lohan getting herself into some kind of mischief. Last Thursday was no exception as the Mean Girls actress had another brush with the law -- this time being slapped with a parking ticket. Lindsay left her monster Cadillac Escalade in front of a fire hydrant in Beverly Hills as she dashed to the Byron and Tracy hair salon, and the illegally parked vehicle was soon spotted by a traffic warden. While the offence will cost Lohan a lot less than her string of drunk driving charges, she'll have to pay around $70 for the careless act as it is a strict violation of the city's traffic laws and considered to be a major safety hazard in case of an emergency. Along with the parking ticket, the troubled actress should be worrying about her weight. The bleached blonde 25-year-old had been looking healthier in recent months but has suddenly plummeted again, prompting concern that she may be obsessively dieting.
