Build Your Own Burger at Susie's

Nothing beats the fresh taste of a home-grilled burger. But Susie's Bakery and Coffee Bar is giving your love for the home-made bite a run for its money. The beloved Southdale Plaza spot launched its Build Your Burger Night last weekend in its parking lot to an appreciative group of regulars and new faces, all curious to try out the eatery's new Friday night dining experience.
Pulling up a seat, mere feet away from the tempting scents emanating from the grill where Chef Desroy Grant is turning burgers, we have a talk with Wynton Hudson, the manager at Susie's.
"Coming into the new year, we decided to do something different," Hudson tells Thursday Life. "The Build Your Burger Night is something that's quick, fast and tasty. It's full of variety."
On offer are traditional beef burgers, with chicken, salmon and pork options also available. Two stations, one with four cheeses, mushrooms, onions and an array of condiments, as well as a salad bar, are adjacent to the chef's grill where customers can make their own fresh-from-the-grill burgers.
"We wanted to revamp the atmosphere but retain the good service, freshness and quality food Susie's is known for," Hudson adds.
Beef and chicken burgers are priced at $795, while the salmon and pork varieties go for $1100.
For thirst quenchers to pair with your burger, the restaurant's proprietor Susie Hanna suggests a $3,500 mojito pitcher (not a bad buy considering it serves six and comes with a six-piece chicken wing basket).
The eatery's Build Your Burger Night is but one specialty Friday the restaurant is introducing, as Hanna reveals that a Pasta Bar Night and a Stir Fry Night will also run on consecutive Fridays each month.
Check out Susie's Build Your Burger night tomorrow.
