'Tis the season to decorate and there's no finer yuletide sight than Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel's traditionally fab Christmas tree. Placed at the staircase landing in the recently renovated lounge, and gorgeously decorated by the hotel's go-to interior designer Ardelle Dalla Costa, the tree is inspired by the colour palette of Terra Nova's makeover -- hot pinks, limes, and a bit of gilt.

"The colours in the lounge have been changed to something a little more contemporary and we wanted to do a tree that would work with it," Dalla Costa informed SO a day after completing the annual tree-decorating project.

The décor process is a mix of old and new elements. Staple decorations such as gilded pears, embroidered Christmas orbs, and the 'three wise men' statuettes remain; while new decorations include golden wreaths, gilded crystal picture frames and aubergine velvet poinsettias.

Dalla Costa says the proverbial 'Christmas spirit' usually sets in after she completes decorating the tree. "After this, I feel Christmas-y. Being an interior designer, I love the opportunity of doing something new at Christmas. Fortunately for me, I am always given that opportunity here with Terra Nova."

Terra Nova’s go-to interior designer Dalla Costa brought what she describes as “a glamourous, sophisticated and chic” yuletide aura to the Terra Nova’s Regency Bar and Lounge. Using curly willow branches — which she wired together and spray-painted in Ralph Lauren Ballroom Gold

paint — Dalla Costa set scores of golden-hued orbs at the base of the potted plants from which the branches spring, and incorporated over 2,000 twinkling light bulbs into her design, which beautifully frames the columns of the hip bar.
