Fittest First Lady

People Post

Monday, February 06, 2012

Michelle Obama has been touring California promoting her health agenda, so when she was challenged to a push-up contest on a TV show, she quickly dropped to the floor to prove she practised what she preached.

The challenge began when daytime TV host Ellen DeGeneres asked the US First Lady on her show: “How many push-ups can you do?

Because I like to do a push-up.” “I know I can do some — can you? I know you've got these back issues,” Mrs Obama teased.

To which the TV host stood up and took off her jacket, and a smiling Mrs Obama, who has completed push-ups with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, stood up ready to take on the challenge.

The pair started doing the push-ups on the studio floor with the audience counting along — Mrs Obama completed an impressive 25. “I thought it wouldn't be good to show off the first lady so I stopped,” quipped DeGeneres after quitting. “I thought this looks bad that I'm going to beat her. I'm 54 and you're 48.”

During the show, Mrs Obama also revealed some bedroom secrets regarding husband Barack. He doesn't pick up his socks. “He thinks he's neat, but he has people who help him. I'm like it's not you that's neat. It's the people who pick up your socks.

Those are the neat people,” she told DeGeneres. She also joined the TV host in a boogie for the benefit of the audience. The First Lady has spent the last few days in California, promoting her health agenda and making high-profile TV appearances.

It's a fake!

Male admirers may not have been able to keep their eyes off her bikini body, but eagle-eyed fans of Vanessa Hudgens spotted something rather more daring in recent holiday snaps. Hudgens was spotted with a 'tattoo' on her right foot as she frolicked in the sea.

But the former High School Musical star was forced to admit that the tattoo is actually a fake. The actress was appearing on the Jay Leno show last week, when he pulled out a magazine showing her on a recent holiday in Hawaii with boyfriend Austin Butler.

He pointed to a picture of her in an orange bikini while she and her beau walked along the beach together. But what really grasped his attention was the tattoo on her foot which read, 'all you need is love'.

When he asked whether the inking hurt or not, she smiled coyly and confessed: “It's fake. I have this mad obsession with drawing on myself, like, I cannot help it. I draw all over my hands, all over my arms, obviously my foot. It's just fun. It's hard to commit to a tattoo, like, I have a few, so, when you write on yourself it's not that much of a commitment.” Vanessa, 23, was on the show to promote her new film Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, a new 3D adventure in which she stars alongside Michael Caine, Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock, and Sex and the City star Kristen Davis.

She looked gorgeous in her strapless white dress and sparkling silver heels as she tottered onto the show and warmly greeted her host. And she looked very tanned; little wonder after her recent jaunts to Australia and Hawaii. Also on the show was Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, who is shaking off the boy wizard image with some very grown-up new projects.

One of them is his spooky new film The Woman In Black.

This is how I roll!

Miley Cyrus has splashed out $127,000 on a new car. The 19-year-old star visited a Mercedes Benz dealership in Encino, California, last week

and paid cash for a new white 2012 SL550 convertible which goes from 0-60mph in just 5.3 seconds.

Miley drove home in her new vehicle, while her bodyguard got behind the wheel of her old car to drive it back to her house, according to TMZ.

However, Miley — who is dating her Last Song co-star Liam Hemsworth — may not be out driving for a while as the clumsy star has suffered a painful injury at home.

She tweeted recently: “cracked my tail bone doing a front flip... on to the couch. That's like when I tripped over a pillow and broke my arm. #onlyme” Miley is no stranger to fast cars — her first ever vehicle, which she was given when she was just 16 years old, was a Porsche. However, the Hannah Montana star was unhappy with the sports car because it used to belong to her mother.

She said at the time: “I do have a car. I took my mom's old car. I didn't get the one I wanted, but I got the old car which wasn't so bad because it was a Porsche. I suppose it was a pretty good handme-down.”

The singer/actress has also previously insisted she is very good driver. She said: “I'm a good driver but I make my mom a nervous wreck, which makes me nervous. I love driving, and I'm pretty good at it — I really am!”
