They are not as celebrated as mothers, but fathers are just as important. A fathers' presence in the upbringing of a child makes a world of difference. They are protectors, providers, disciplinarians, towers of strength, a son's role model and a daughter's hero. Fathers are irreplaceable and their contribution is immeasurable. Today, SO celebrates Fathers' Day with reflections from men who have epitomised the role of father. They express their challenges, sorrows, hopes and joys as they mould their young ones into adults capable of carrying on their legacy.

It is easier for a father to have children than for children to have a real father.

— Pope John XXII

A Message to my children on Father's Day

'Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go' Joshua 1:9b. I am here to help guide, protect and direct your path, by instilling the necessary morals and values, Tyeis. Look at what you've got and make the best of it. It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. You won't understand what daddy is saying right now, but just know that I am with you and will forever be your guardian. I love you, my princess.

Barrington Groves, Brand Manager, Sagicor Life Jamaica

A message to my son on Father's Day -

From the moment you came into this world, I was immediately filled with love and admiration. Little did I know that someone so small could have such a great impact on my life. The opportunity to be your dad is an experience I treasure. As I watch you grow, I promise to love and treasure each moment we share as I perform the role of father, role model and friend. I love you, Roman-Alexander.

A message to my children on Father's Day

Today being Father's Day, I am extremely proud of how you are developing into fine young men. Your positive attitude towards education and the teachings of Christ is admirable. Though you may think that mummy and I are too demanding at times, please understand that it is because of our desire for both of you to become successful and responsible men of integrity who will contribute positively to the development of our country. I love you, and I am so grateful to God for blessing us with two wonderful sons.

A message to my children on Father's Day

Through the years I have grown to realise that joy comes from the things that make a man's life worthwhile. For me that joy comes from my children and the emotions felt by watching them learn and grow. That immediate smile that comes to my face and that tingling feeling I get inside as we embrace makes it all worth it. Each year I realise more how much being your dad has changed me completely. This year, on Father's Day, I am so fulfilled and truly blessed to be your father. Thanks for allowing me to be your dad!

Winston Lee Hong, Maintenance Manager, Sagicor Property Services

A Message to my daughter on Father's Day

Gabrielle Alexandria Lee-Hong, since the day you were born, my life changed forever. I love you today more than yesterday but even more tomorrow. Your love sustains me in all endeavours and you complete my circle. You are my sweet, sometimes overbearingly helpful, sociable and intelligent little girl. There are many like you, but you are mine.

PS. Unconditionally Loved-Daddy.
