Jay-Z and Beyoncé host fund-raiser for Obama
President Barack Obama attended a fund-raiser at Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in Manhattan last Tuesday that featured a champagne tower of 350 bottles worth $105,000 — more than twice the median household income of an American family.
The tower of $300-a-bottle Armand de Brignac Brut Gold, known as 'Ace of Spades' because of its label, is a permanent fixture at the club.
“It's floor-to-ceiling gold bottles in the entire space,” a 40/40 representative told the New York Post. “It's breathtakingly beautiful. It's the first thing you see when you walk in.”
Some 100 people attended the $40,000-per-person event, which took place after Obama spoke to 200 donors at a $12,500-per-family reception at the Waldorf Astoria. The total campaign cash haul for the day was $6 million. At the 40/40 Club, Beyoncé introduced Obama and said that she and her husband Jay-Z “believe in his vision”.
Obama responded: “Let me just begin by saying to Jay and Bey, thank you so much for your friendship. We are so grateful. Michelle and Malia and Sasha are mad at me because they are not here.”
“That doesn't usually happen. Usually they're like, we're glad you're going — we don't need to go. But every time they get a chance to see these two they are thrilled, partly because they are just both so generous, particularly to my kids. And Malia and Sasha just love both of them.”

Colombian singer Shakira is pregnant with her first child. The Hips Don't Lie singer, 35, has confirmed she and Spanish soccer star Gerard Pique, who is 10 years her junior, are expecting a baby together.
She has also revealed that she has decided to cut down on her work schedule over the coming weeks. Writing on her website, Shakira told her fans: “As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby!”
“At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days.” The singer was expected to perform at the iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino this weekend in Las Vegas, but has now cancelled her appearance.
Shakira has been dating Gerard for around two years although she only confirmed their relationship last year by posting a picture of the pair on Twitter and Facebook with a caption reading, 'I present to you my sunshine' in Spanish. The singer has just signed up to become one of the coaches on the US version of The Voice and will replace Christina Aguilera in season four next year.

Still a child at heart
He may be a 41-year-old father of four, but Matt Damon proved he is still a child at heart as he stepped out in New York last Wednesday.
The Contagion actor looked like a big kid as he blew bubbles in the middle of the street with his adorable daughters Isabella, six, and Gia, four, by his side.
And topping off the star's childish appearance was the fact he was fashioning a brightly coloured kids' backpack. A stark contrast to his plain grey T-shirt, indigo jeans and baseball cap, carrying the slightly cringe-inducing accessory proved he is ever the doting dad to his little girls. But in helping out his little ones, Damon only drew more attention to his A-list status. The trio were enjoying a family day out in the Big Apple, and the devoted father treated the girls to a tub of ice cream — and the hunky star seemed to be enjoying every single bite of his tasty treat.
