Star promos her new single ahead of MTV Video Music Awards performance

Katy Perry is a woman on a mission. As she readies her pop comeback with her new single Roar, the singer appears to be pulling out all the stops for her upcoming performance at MTV's Video Music Awards on August 25.

Hyping up the performance to the hilt, a new promotional teaser has been released showing Katy marching with a group of dancers in a West Side Storyinspired clip.

Held in Brooklyn, New York this year, it will of course be more of an East Coast Story with Katy Perry going head to head with Miley Cyrus — if MTV's promotional images are anything to go by.

It was announced on Monday Katy will be performing her new single Roar on the VMA’s stage, and the singer has been on the publicity trail recently talking about the record.

The promo sees a sultry-looking Katy emerging from a manhole on the streets of New York as her new single Roar is heard in the background.

A tiger is seen walking the streets of the city, mirroring the song's lyrics 'I've got the eye of the tiger.’

Katy is then seen disappearing as she marches down to the subway with her gang.
