While the festive season is now officially over, if there's one thing it taught us, it's that shopping for a foodie is no simple task. With the New Year comes many more gift-giving opportunities — every day is someone's birthday — and Thursday Life has found the perfect perennial foodie gift.

Sarah Hsia Hall, the culinary mind behind Nyamist, recently unveiled three new products that will not only pique interest but satisfy those with a sweet tooth.

Hall's 'Jamaica Nice' liqueur is a zesty infusion of white rum, Blue Mountain coffee and orange rind — inspired by a drink traditionally served by her mother at Christmas — priced at $1,000 per bottle. There is too, her nifty banana bread and banana cookie mixes — a combination of all the dry ingredients necessary in attractive jars, priced at $2,500.

"What my Nyamist mind does is look to create new products, using classic Jamaican ingredients in a new way. Both recipes call for the addition of three ripe bananas, a fruit that grows in abundance here. You always have those people who are so hard to shop for because they have everything; this is for those people," Hall told Thursday Life.

Editor's Note:

Hall is awaiting FDA approval before they hit supermarket shelves, but until then these items may be purchased directly from Hall by contacting her at 441-8238.
