On ‘Track’ for Independence

Thursday, July 05, 2012

Marketplace hotspot, Tracks and Records, has introduced an Independence-themed 'Yaad Style' lunchtime menu just in time for The Rock's 50th anniversary. With the added incentive of copping a 'Jamaica 50' award at last month's Jamaica Observer Food Awards, the eatery thought it prudent to diversify its menu options with beloved Jamaican faves. There's ackee and saltfish with corned pork; stew peas with pig's tail; a jerk chicken/pork platter; stew chicken and a red peas soup, all created by in-house executive chef Vinton Fletcher.

An enthused Kevin Bourke, a director of the KLE Group, operators of the Tracks and Records brand, says the new menu was launched last Thursday and all four items are priced under $1,000 and are offered with a complimentary bottle of Red Stripe. Customer response to the new menu, according to Bourke, has been quite encouraging, with the ackee and saltfish being the runaway hit.

The 'Yaad Style' menu is a limited-time-only special and will be available at the eatery until the end of the Olympics. Thursday Food shares highlights from the new menu.
