Rihanna is designing a Capsule Collection for UK High Street Brand River Island
Rihanna is really moving in on the British fashion industry. In addition to producing and starring in new British fashion design competition show Styled to Rock, UK high street brand River Island has just announced an upcoming collaboration with RiRi.
"I've been wanting to design my own collection for some time," Rihanna said in a statement. "River Island is the perfect partner for me to collaborate with and working with a British family-run business also really appealed to me. I find London really inspiring and River Island loves to have fun with clothes. I'm looking forward to working with them and creating something really special."
River Island CEO Ben Lewis said, "Rihanna will be designing the collection and we will be sharing our fashion experience with her to develop a range her fans will love." The collection is set for a spring 2013 launch.
Having cut her design chops with two Armani capsule collections, the pop star has expressed interest in designing her own collection, but perhaps she wanted to do a little more collaborating before striking off on her own. We also wouldn't be surprised if this ended up having some sort of tie-in with Styled to Rock. Regardless, we can't wait to see what she comes up with. We're imagining lots of mesh, crop tops, and hot pants.
