Saturday Hustle - July 7
Celebrities are always being followed wherever they go, and with the advent of social network Twitter, it's easier now more than ever to follow their every move. This week's Saturday Hustle brings you the most followed artistes on Twitter.
Lady Gaga - 'Mother Monster' has made a big name for herself in both the music and fashion world, but has achieved an even bigger name for herself on Twitter. The Born This Way super star currently has over 26 million followers on the social networking site, which makes her the most followed person in the site's history. But her relationship with her 'little monsters' isn't one-sided, in return she follows almost 140 thousand of her fans.
Justin Beiber - Who's got Beiber fever? Over 24 million Twitter followers, that's who. Though he may be the butt of many a joke, there is no denying the almost cult like strength of Justin Bieber's fan base. And how does he show appreciation for being the second most followed person on Twitter? By giving back that 'Follow' love, and following over 120 thousand of his fans in return.
Katy Perry - This Teenage Dream singer has acquired numerous chart toppers and awards over the last couple of years, but one of her greatest achievements may just be her extraordinary fan base. With over 22 million followers strong, Katy Perry is the third most followed artiste on Twitter, a major notch in her already illustrious belt.
Rihanna - With over 21 million followers she may indeed feel like the Only Girl in the World, though she is only the fourth most followed artiste on Twitter. The Talk that Talk star is steadily climbing, however, and has gained over two million followers in the past month alone.
Britney Spears - yes Britney's back, and she's got more than her X Factor judge status to show for it. The original princess of pop has over 18 million Twitter followers, a million more than President Barack Obama, and a number just high enough to make her the fifth most followed artiste on Twitter.
