The impressive two-day Wyndham Wedding Spectacular, which took place on February 18 and 19 at the Wyndham Kingston Hotel, featured over 40 exhibitors inclusive of some of the island's top beauty experts who demonstrated a variety of hairstyles and make-up techniques on models. Your Under the Dryer team stopped by the hair and make-up exhibits of Kimberly Patterson, Soft-Sheen Carson, Paul March and Face Forward Cosmetics.

Flips Galore

Shannon Singh by Carl Richmond

Shannon sports a long layered 'do. Carl styled her hair to show off the versatility of the cut. He also advised that hair that is coloured needs regular treatment to reduce the risk of damage.

Steps:

* Use a blow-dryer to straighten the hair.

* Apply Soft-Sheen Carson Professional Optimum OptiShine Sheen Intensifier for weightless sheen -- recommended for fine hair.

* Mist the hair with Soft Sheen Carson Professional Optimum OptiShape Thermal Styling Spray to provide protection.

* Use a ceramic curling iron to style hair. Ceramic does not dry out the hair unlike the more traditional curling irons.

* Curl most of the hair away from the face.

* Curl the section with hair at the front, which has a lighter colour, towards the face to draw attention to the face.

* Use a wide-tooth comb to style the hair.

Retro Glam

Lexi Haynes by Paul March and Carlyle Roberts

The technique chosen for Lexi takes the shape of the face into consideration. Her delicate features were highlighted using particular techniques that would make her eyes pop and highlight her cheekbones. "Her look was retro yet funky," explained hairstylist Carlyle Roberts.

Steps for make-up:

* Cleanse the face.

* Apply moisturiser to the skin so that the foundation will go on easily.

* Apply foundation by airbrushing the skin to give an even and flawless finish.

* Gently apply Make Up For Ever Invisible Cover HD Foundation powder to set the foundation in place.

* Highlight the brow bone by lightly applying a light colour from the brow to the lash line.

* Apply colour to the lid.

* Enhance the shape of the eyes by using a brow brush to apply a darker colour from the corner to the crease of the lid.

* Apply black Make Up For Ever eyeliner to further outline the eyes.

* Apply Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Extra Black Mascara.

* Gently brush the cheeks with a darker colour to contour the cheek bones.

* Apply a bronzer to the apple of the cheeks and then blend the colours.

* Use a brush to gently apply a gloss.

* Finish the look by applying translucent powder to set everything in place.

Steps for hair:

* Apply Optimum Advanced Keratin Sealing Leave-In Conditioner.

* Blow-dry the hair with a handheld dryer.

* Add a small portion of Optimum Care Salon Care Collection Heat Protection Polish.

* Spray the roots with Optimum OptiShape Thermal Styling Spray.

* Curl the hair with a ceramic curling iron in a circular direction, starting from the crown -- away from the face.

* Apply two rows of hair extensions to the front for additional height and volume.

* Lightly mist the front of the hair with Optimum Advanced flexible holding spray for additional support.

* Apply Optimum Advanced High Gloss shine spray then use a wide-tooth comb to style the hair.

A Fab Updo
