Cars for a tight economy

AUTO

Friday, January 08, 2010

EVEN with current slow sales of motor vehicles and expectations in some quarters that prices will hold at least for the first half of the year, operational costs are nonetheless increasing rapidly.

With mounting gas prices pushing the daily costs to run a vehicle, economy cars are increasingly becoming more attractive.

SUVs, although the vehicle of choice for many, are way above budget for the typical entry-level consumer both to purchase and operate.

New or pre-owned, smaller more frugal vehicles such as the Suzuki Swift and Honda Fit on the other hand possess brand appeal, are less expensive and offer resale value.

And, most importantly, are easier on the pocket to maintain.
