3 Decades of Style Part 2
Under the dryer
Saturday, June 02, 2012
Yvonne Anderson, director of La Claire's Coiffeure Co, is certainly no rookie in the beauty industry. She opened her first salon in Kingston over 33 years ago, prior to having a thriving salon in Montego Bay for many years. The Under the Dryer team shares part two of our time spent with the La Claire's Coiffeure Co family as they got their hair and make-up done. There were, too, J Wray and Nephew bartenders providing refreshing Absolut Madera cocktails.
Clients: Carmen Chen, Caitlin Young, and Petakaye Chin.
Carmen Chen, company director
"I have been coming to Mrs Anderson for over 20 years. She is one of the most professional stylists I have come across," Chen stated as she prepared to be styled. Though she has rocked a short 'do for most of her adult years, she recently made the decision to wear her hair longer. During her visit, she got flirty asymmetrical flips.
Steps:
* Cleanse the hair with Vitale Olive Oil Deep Moiturizing Shampoo.
* Rinse the product from the hair, then apply Vitale Pro Leave in & Styling Conditioner.
* Apply a small portion of Vitale Strand Design Foam to the hair.
* Blow-dry the hair.
* Use a ceramic flat iron to curl the hair.
* Use a wide-tooth comb to style the hair.
* Finish by misting the hair with KeraCare Finishing Spray.
Carmen's take:
"It looks really nice."
Caitlin Young, operations manager
Caitlin rocked long hair for years. It wasn't until a close friend introduced her to La Claire's that she decided to go 'under the scissors'. "I was a little nervous at first, but I think my cut is very age-appropriate. She cuts impeccably well," she explained. Since her initial visit, Young has maintained her hair in a variety of short hairstyles.
Steps:
* Place a streak cap on the head.
* Pull strands of hair through the holes in the cap, leaving them exposed for colouring.
* Apply a mixture of basic white and Volume 40 by Alfapark Milano.
* Place the mixture on the exposed strands of hair.
* Sit under the dryer.
* Rinse the product from the hair.
* Cleanse the hair with Vitale Olive Oil Deep Moiturizing Shampoo.
* Rinse the product from the hair then apply Vitale Pro Leave in & Styling Conditioner.
* Use shears to trim the hair.
* Blow-dry the hair. Use a round brush while blow-drying to give the hair volume.
*Tease the hair with your fingers.
Caitlin's take:
"I love it! Never disappointed."
Petakaye Chin, graphic designer and law student
When we popped by the salon, Petakaye's make-up was being applied. As she leaned back in the chair, she looked up at our team and said "It's always a very relaxing experience here. I always feel so comfortable. Plus Mrs Anderson has been doing my hair since I was a little girl." She kept things simple by sticking with sleek, flat-ironed hair.
Steps:
* Cleanse the hair with Alfaparf Midollo di Bamboo Restructuring Shampoo.
* Apply Alfaparf Midollo di Bamboo Pro-concentrate to the hair.
* Blow-dry the hair.
* Apply Soft-Sheen Optimum Care Anti-breakage therapy.
* Flat-iron the hair.
* Use a wide-tooth comb to style the hair.
Petakaye's take:
"I think my look is very versatile. It can easily go from business chic to a more casual look."
