Right smack in the middle of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week came the invite to lunch alongside the E-Class sedan. At the range was multi-award-winning chef Dennis McIntosh. The well-appointed table - set in the middle of the Silver Star showroom, with eye candy at every turn - was a stroke of genius. Our host, Jacqueline Sangster, general manager, Silver Star Motors, presented memorable E-class sedan runway moments in between forkfuls of oven roasted conch and pumpkin bisque, panko-coated chicken breast, capers and black olives, pineapple slaw and pasta salad.
The meal came to a perfect close with a tropical fruit tart and a miniature gateau of orange chiffon with butterscotch caramel.
There was no rush to catch the next show - why bother, really, when one could sip afternoon tea and contemplate the possibilities of back massages on the highway, not having to adjust one's seat or steering wheel, a sunroof that all in the car can enjoy. Eschew all thoughts of post-lunch fatigue: the E-Class Benz detects that, too, and will suggest that you pull over and take a break. How cool is that?
Contemplating the post-lunch cheque, however, might lead to heartburn. But then again, if you have to ask...
