LONDON (AP) - Former Beatle George Harrison left almost £100 million (US$155 million) in his will, according to court documents released yesterday.
The High Court document, released on the first anniversary of Harrison's death from cancer at the age of 58, showed that gross value of his estate amounted to just over £99.2 million (US$154 million), with a net worth of around £98.9 million (US$153 million). Harrison and his wife Olivia, 54, had a mansion in Henley-on-Thames, west of London, where they were attacked by a knife-wielding intruder in December 1999.
Olivia Harrison spoke a few days ago about her late husband's acceptance of his fate long before his death. "George dedicated a lot of his life to obtain a good ending and I don't have any doubt that he was successful," the Los Angeles-born Olivia, who was married to Harrison for 23 years, told the NBC network.
The two surviving Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, were due to join Eric Clapton later yesterday in a tribute concert at the Royal Albert Hall to raise funds for the Material World Charitable Foundation, which Harrison founded. Harrison worked on his music until his death and recorded a final album, Brainwashed, that was released earlier November after his son Dhani, 25, added guitar and vocal tracks.
