Fire pon UWI, Anthony B speaks in Reggae Studies lecture series
Observer Reporter
Wednesday, December 04, 2002

Anthony B

CONTROVERSIAL deejay Anthony B is the next scheduled speaker in the ongoing lecture series put on by the Reggae Studies Unit at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. The event will take place in the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre this Friday afternoon.

The iconoclastic artiste, whose 1995 hit song Fire Pon Rome, has been banned from airplay, is expected to generate some degree of excitement and much interest with his often quite original and radical views on a variety of issues.

The fiery artiste's career began with his debut recording for the Wizard label, a combination entitled Living Is Hard with Little Devon in 1993. A partnership with Star Trail producer Richard Bell, begun in 1993, has proven to be a fruitful one, yielding a string of hits, including One Thing, Repentance Time, Hurt the Heart, Raid Di Barn, Cold Feet and Gwane Heart.

Anthony B will be the latest dancehall deejay to be featured on what has become a popular rap session series, joining Ninja Man, Bounty Killer, Alozade and Capleton who have all made presentations.
