Mutabaruka

Sometimes controversial Jamaican poet, Mutabaruka, left the island, yesterday, for the shooting of his appearance on Def Jam Poetry Jam, the popular slam poetry show aired on US cable station Home Box Office (HBO), and co-produced by Russell Simmonds Production.

The programme featuring Mutabaruka will be shot today in New York City. The outspoken/provocative Rastafarian poet who hosts the weekly Cutting Edge radio talk show on Irie FM was recently appointed the 2003 Folk Philosopher by the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of the West Indies (UWI)Mona Campus, where he gave a lecture presentation last Tuesday.
