MOWATT... displays her Independence Award

THE Orlando, Florida-based gospel hip-hop group, Manifested Sons of God (MSOG), will make a special guest appearance at the 2003 staging of Judy Mowatt's Music Ministry Youth Summer Splash. The show takes place on Saturday, August 30 at the Jamaica 4H Club, 95 Old Hope Road in Kingston.

Explaining why she decided to put on this annual event, Mowatt said: "It is really a Christian fellowship fun day designed to direct young minds into a spiritual focus. And it is also a back-to- school focus, knowing that the kids will be returning to school shortly we want them to take back a wholesome, spiritual attitude."

Activities start at 11:00 am until the concert kicks off at 3:00 pm, These activities include Bible stories, face-painting, games, spot prizes, grab bag, bounce-a-bout, slides, and simulator. Special guests will be the Reggae Boyz who will sign autographs and take pictures.

Part proceeds of the event will aid the Mary's Child Home for Teenaged Mothers and Abused Children and the Bible Teacher's Back-to-School Outreach programme.

Mowatt, the veteran female entertainer was recently bestowed with the prime minister's Independence Award for her contribution to the country's music industry.
