Tinga and Roman Stewart storm New York Top 10
Veteran singer Tinga Stewart and his brother, Roman, who died a few months ago, both have entries in the top 10 of the New York Reggae chart. Tinga is currently at number eight with You Let Me Down on the Joe Frazier label. Meanwhile, Roman is at number seven with Cheater, a cover of a song made popular by Dennis Brown. Roman's effort was also produced by Lloyd Campbell for the Joe Frazier label.

| Beres Hammond |
This is not the first time that two brothers have had hits in the top 10 of the New York Reggae chart simultaneously. The first time that this rare feat occurred was back in August 1987 when Red Dragon hit number one with Hol A Fresh for the Techniques label. His brother, deejay Flourgon, was number 10 that same week with his effort Hol A Spliff.
In July 1988, Red Dragon and Flourgon again visited the top 10. This time Dragon reached number six with Duck, while Flourgon stalled at number eight with the Red Man International hit, We Run Things.

Beres knocks Mad Cobra from number one

Mad Cobra lost his grip from the number one spot on the Choice FM Top 20 Reggae chart in London, as his Mi Gone, which was produced by Dave Kelly, was removed by Beres Hammond's There for You.

Hammond hovered around the number one spot for the past few months, as he missed the top spot with Good Old Dancehall Vibes and My Pride and Joy. For Cobra, it's his first chart-topper in years, since his Done Wife hit pole position in 1995.

Spicy hit for Richie continues its upward trek
Okay, so Richie Spice is still hanging on to the number one spot (Earth A Run Red) on the Mega Jamz top 10 Singers chart for a third week. But although the song is making a big impact locally, it is also making its presence felt on various reggae charts overseas as well.
On the Choice FM Top 20 Reggae chart, the song entered at number 15 on the weekend. On the New York Reggae chart, it moves from number nine to number three in its fifth week.
On the South Florida Reggae chart, Earth A Run Red moves up from number 11 to number eight in its fourth week.
Spice is about to release a new album in time for the summer.
Prodigal Son completes video for The Cross
Gospel deejay Prodigal Son recently completed shooting the video for his latest single, The Cross. The song has also inspired a dance of the same name.
The song has been generating attention in gospel circles, and it is expected that with the release of the video, the song's popularity can be further increased.
Prodigal Son told this column earlier this week that he was excited about the video. "I am very impressed with it and I am sure it's going to pay off."
Directed by Nordia Rose, the clip took a day of filming to complete.
"The entire team went all out for this. It's not just a music video, it's also a way of getting the message across," Prodigal Son said.
Rik Rok signs with VP Records
Sources at VP Records have indicated that Ricardo 'Rik Rok' Ducent has signed on to produce an album for VP Records. The Big Yard recording artiste's first major project with the label will be the stateside release of the recent number one hit, Your Eyes which features Shaggy.
Your Eyes was produced by Christopher 'Langman' Birch on the Salsa rhythm. It scored well on local charts late last year, and spent two weeks at the top of the New York Reggae chart.
Mr Vegas pulls out another Billboard hit,/B>
Mr Vegas scored his third Billboard hit with Pull Up, a track which is featured on the popular Coolie Dance rhythm. The song is being promoted as the first single on Vegas' upcoming Delicious Vinyl/Interscope album of the same name. Pull Up entered at number 87 on the Billboard R&B Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart two weeks ago.
Vegas' previous Billboard jaunts were with Hot Gal Today (with Sean Paul), which peaked at number 66 on the R&B chart in 2000. His Heads High stalled at number 69 on the R&B chart in 1999.
