Sans Souci Resort and Spa has always been synonymous with romance, and last Saturday night Don Creary and Ayesha Singh, who in August this year tied the knot in a private ceremony in Scotland, hosted a reception at the hotel, the birthplace of their love affair and long-standing romance.
Ayesha, a former Miss Jamaica Universe runner-up, looking every bit her gorgeous self, turned many heads in her red, floor-length spaghetti-strap dress.
Her husband, known as a scotch connoisseur, was also impeccably dressed in a dark double-breasted suit that told everyone that his taste in clothes is just as good as his appreciation for fine whiskies.
Among the gorgeous ice sculptures was an array of bars and food tables with an immense sweet table to tempt every sweet tooth.
Everyone had an input, including the lovely Norma Creary - the groom's mom - with her centrepieces, down to the elaborate scotch bar for the political posse to hold court. And then, of course, there was the food - San Souci's area of expertise.
Ayesha, showing off her Indian heritage, brought in Rajiv Bhatnagar, whose award-winning Indian restaurant, Passage to India, served some of their specialties alongside Jamaican, Chinese and pasta stations. There was one complaint among some of the ladies - "these plates are too small, we just keep having to go back for more".
Ayesha and Don took centrestage for what turned out to be a multitude of well-wishers giving anecdotes of their meeting. Heartfelt speeches were made by close friends. Ayesha's godfather, Mervyn Moore, delivered the toast to her parents, Errol and Diana Singh, while Senator Bruce Golding toasted the groom's parents. Garwin Davis toasted the bride, while the story-telling Joe Issa toasted the groom, his best friend.
The party then moved up a notch when guests were asked to join the happy couple on the dance floor to enjoy the musical selections of Andrew Henry. That's when the bulbs started flashing as the night's fashions really went on display. A large multi-media screen showed photos and wedding footage throughout the night and was a perfect complement to the proceedings.
Among the guests were Don's daughter, Donice, clad in a silver ensemble, being happiest of all with her new step-mom; Saveeta Castro; Leela and Royland Rosales; Tamika Delahaye; Andrew Price; Solomon Sharpe; George and Michelle Hugh; Herbie and Michelle Chung; Ricardo Bowleg; Eric Clarke; Arthur Williams; Roosevelt Thompson; Christopher and Kimberley Issa; Richard and Andrea Creary; Donald Hinds; Marcia McDonnough; Daryl and Annmarie Vaz; Ravi Daswani; James and Charlene Robertson; Paul Hoo and his lovely wife, Sue; Kevin and Cecille Levee; Mark and Michelle Chin; Wade Marsh; Maxine McDonnough; Richard and Marcia Forbes; Stephen Steele; Enid Bennett; Eva Myers; Jody Myrie; Peter and Donnia Bovell; Kimani Robinson and Terry Kaye James; Dwight Moore and Sharon Millwood; Gerald Ford and a host of others.
