Jamaica Inn's Wedgewood Blue formed the perfect backdrop on Sunday, October 10 when Phillipa Milane Scarlett said 'I do' to David Jeffrey Wakelyn.
Phillipa is the daughter of Earle St Aubin Scarlett, born in Kingston, Jamaica, and Barbara Ann Haith Scarlett of North Carolina, both former US diplomats.
Phillipa is the grandaughter of Ivorine "Kitty" Parchment Scarlett and grandniece of Reginald and Leopold Parchment of White House, Westmoreland.
David Wakelyn is the son of historian Professor Jon Wakelyn and attorney Catherine Carl Wakelyn. The groom's aunt, the Reverend Elizabeth Carl of Washington DC, performed the marriage ceremony. Phillipa's sister, Olivia Francesca Scarlett, was the maid of honour, and David Gundersen, the Best Man. The 95 guests included relatives from New York and Washington DC and friends from as far as Korea, Germany, Belgium and various US cities. Among the guests from Kingston were Suzanne and Philip Bernard, Michelle Rousseau and Nancy and Virginia Burke of Walker's Wood.
The bride dazzled in a white silk Romano Keveza gown and carried a bouquet of white Jamaican orchids. There were a few orchids, too, in her hair.
The newly-weds will reside in Washington, DC, USA. Phillipa is an attorney with Boles, Schiller and Flexner LLP, and David is an educational consultant for the National Centre for Education and the Economy.
