Elephant Man scores his fourth Billboard R&B Singles chart entry
He has hit the Billboard R&B Singles chart on three previous occasions with songs such as Pon De River, Pon De Bank, Signal The Plane and Jook Gal (Wine Wine). Elephant Man scores his fourth entry this week as Father Elephant moves up from number 86 to number 66.
Father Elephant which is on the Black Chiney-produced Kopa rhythm was a local chart hit a few months ago.
Junior Gong debuts at number 13 on the UK Singles chart
Red hot Damian 'Junior Gong' Marley continues his chart dominance. After debuting at number seven on the Billboard 200 album chart last week with his latest disc Welcome To Jamrock, the title track single debuts at number 13 on the UK Singles chart. Marley's album slipped six spots from number 42 to number 48 on the UK Album chart.
In the US, the album Welcome To Jamrock plunged from number seven to number 22. On the Billboard Hot 100, the single Welcome To Jamrock slipped from number 55 to number 65, while on the R&B Singles chart it slipped from 23 to 26.
CHART UPDATES
On the UK Singles chart this week, Kanye West and Jamie Foxx were far from strong enough to muscle their way to number one, as they had to settle for a number-two debut with their hit Gold Digger. The Pussy Cat Dolls featuring Busta Rhymes hung on to number one for a third week with Don't Cha. Sean Paul's We Be Burnin slipped one place down to number three. On the UK album chart, David Gray stood firm at the top with Life In Slow Motion.
On the Billboard R&B Singles chart, Sean Paul's We Be Burnin moved up 24 spots to number 20, while TOK's Footprints jumped five places from number 35 to number 30. On Billboard Hot 100, while We Be Burnin rocketed from number 60 to number 26. Footprints stepped up the pace, climbing one spot up from number 94 to number 93.
EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA!
Macka Diamond is featured on the Mista Wilks label's Ice Cube rhythm with a track titled Wifey. The video for the song was shot in Ocho Rios earlier this week, and is due out in two weeks' time. TOK heads to California this weekend to shoot a new video for their Billboard charting single Footprints. The clip will be directed by Kevin DeFreitas. DeFreitas has worked on videos for Sean Paul and Wayne Wonder among others.
Fantan Mojah's debut album is coming out next month on Greensleeves Records.
Morgan Heritage has taken their latest hit How Come to the top of the South Florida Reggae chart. This is the group's third number one on that chart, having previously reached the summit with Your Best Friend and She's Still Loving Me. Incidentally, Your Best Friend was produced by top producer Donovan 'Vendetta' Bennett, who also produced How Come.
Still on the reggae charts this week, Jah Cure's Love Is which was produced by Bennett is the new number one song on the New York Reggae chart. Leroy Smart's Girl You Too Cold moved up to number four, while Jah Cure's True Reflections entered at number 21. Gyptian's Serious Times which recently spent two weeks at number one on the B Mobile/Mega Jamz Top 20 Reggae chart, entered at number 24, while Da'Ville's Can't Get Over You entered the chart at number 26. Home And Away by Norris Man which is on the Vertex label, entered at number 29. That song is number 13 this week on the Choice FM Top 20 Reggae chart in London.
And Stevie Wonder's first album in 10 years, A Time 2 Love is now set for an October 18 release date via Motown Records. Two singles have already hit the Billboard R&B Singles charts, What The Fuss with Prince and From The Bottom Of My Heart.
Veteran R&B singer Jeffrey Osborne is back on the Billboard charts this week. His cover of Yes I'm Ready entered the R&B Singles chart at number 79. Also back on the Billboard R&B Singles charts after more than eight years are the Fugees. The trio song Take It Easy is number 59 on that chart.
Shaggy's latest album Clothes Drop entered the Billboard 200 album chart at number 144. On the R&B Hip Hop Album chart, the album fares better at number 54.
