Bad girls need love too

Talking about the sad girls.
Friday night and the strip is hot,
Sun's gone down and they're about to trot,
Spirit's high and they look hot,
Do you wanna get down.
Sad girls, sad girls
You bad girl, you sad girl.
- Donna Summer, Singer

Tony Robinson

Men yearn for them, women hate and fear them, many of them hate themselves, but bad girls are here to stay. Bad girls leave their mark, and instil fear in other women, merely because of their sheer potential to take away their men from them, real or imagined. Bad girls are the stuff that legends are made of, they are the subject of male gossip and the stories last forever.

Even now I remember a girl from my high school days who took on the entire football team. Bad girls have songs written about them, as Donna Summer and others have done, and will continue to do so. Bad girls are the subject of graffiti, the poetry of the streets and bathrooms: "For a really great time, call Hotpants at 1-800-BADGAL", or now with the Internet, you can log on to www//badgal.com .

Even in the Bible bad girls held sway, as when one was about to be stoned, Jesus rebuked the mob with the now famous line, "He who is without sin, cast the first stone". In fact, Jesus himself washed the feet of a prostitute, a bad girl.

Bad girls are the object of desire of males of all ages, from young boys just approaching puberty, to middling men, single, married or in-between, to the older males, who now have the dubious distinction of having 'Dirty' placed before their names, ergo, Dirty old men. Bad girls have them jumping.

If it wasn't for bad girls, many boys would never know what it is to experience sex. Say what you will, say it ain't so, but many fathers still introduce their sons to sex via the route of bad girls. Other boys get the experience from girls with a less than respectable reputation. "Hey, just go check Easy Suzy, she will let off for a box lunch."

Bad girls fill a niche. When a man wants a fling with no commitment, he seeks out a bad girl. After all, a good girl will want a long-term relationship with all the trappings, pitfalls and emotional baggage, things he does not need. If he did, he'd just stay with his wife.

Bad girls provide a relief with no strings attached. Bad girls are more likely to have one-night stands, although many so-called good girls have also indulged in this practice.

The irony is, usually after a one-night stand, a good girl automatically becomes a 'bad girl'. "Hey Brad, how was your first date with Suzy?" "Cho, easy man, soup, she let off right after the movie!" Poor Suzy, now her reputation has gone to hell, even though chances are, it was the first time she ever did anything like that because she really liked the guy.

But she's not a real bad girl. A real bad girl does not care about reputation, and may even juggle two or three men at the same time. Concurrent badness. Talk about a circus clown juggling six balls in the air at the same time.

Bad girls exist for instant gratification; bad girls appear in porno movies and may even become huge stars. Where would that industry be without bad girls?

And even as society scoffs at, frowns at, thumbs its noses at, looks down at the porno industry, it still ranks as one of the world's largest trades. Bad girls supply magazines with photos that have males and even some females, from age three to 93, drooling at the pages. Without bad girls, all that would come to naught.

Then we have the bad girl dancers who fill the strip joints and clubs, having lascivious men leer and salivate like Pavlov's dogs as they bump, grind and wine.

Just mention the word go-go and watch the conditioned reflex of some men, men who are hooked on bad girls, drawn like the moth to the flame, as the allure and lore of the bad girl excite and titillate them. A man will pour his money into a bad girl, rather than give it to his wife, baby mother or even his child. Bad girls have that pull.

When you watch those documentaries about prostitutes, you will understand my drift. Men in fancy cars will cruise the streets in search of bad girls, and the risks that they take are enormous. The wads of cash that they fork over are huge. Bad girls can earn a good living.

But it's not all glory and glamour, even for the high-class call girls, for as Donna Summer said in her song, "Bad girls, talking about the sad girls, sad girls, sad girls". The life of the bad girl isn't what it's cut out to be, as even though they're sought after, desired by men, yearned after, it's not usually for a long-term relationship.

But bad girls need love too. The irony is, men will say that they want a bad girl, and they really do, but the usual phrase is, "Hey man, only for a good time, remember, some you settle down with and some you just lick and run". Now that's so sad.

The irony is, the few men who take the chance and settle down with a bad girl often regret it, for bad girls often do not change and will exhibit badness with other men. "Why are you complaining, you knew that I was a bad girl when you met me, didn't I two-time my last boyfriend with you?"

I spoke to some good girls who were lamenting the fact that they had no men, while others had men but the men seemed bored with them, had lost interest, had no passion for them.

"Him say him want me to be bad with him sometimes, but I just can't be what I'm not," one told me. "I'm a good girl and my boyfriend is always looking at porno and lusting at bad girls," another one told me. The delicate trick is to be all things to men, a good girl by day, but a bad girl by night. Few women have mastered that art, very few.

What usually happens is that men will settle with good girls, even marry them, but have bad girls as mistresses. The bad girls whom I spoke to included multi-partner women, mistresses, plus some generally loose women who gave new meaning to the word promiscuity, and the one underlying theme from all of them was that they got no love, real love that is. "Oh, the men come, spend time, but always go home to their wives," was the common cry.

Bad girls are always left lonely, no matter how often the man visits. Whether it's for a short-term pay and play layaway plan, or a mistress who lets him in, then lets him out before the crack of dawn, the feeling is the same, unloved and lonely. Men just don't stay with bad girls.

So even though they may look hot and sexy, healthy body and lusty, it's often a sad, lonely life for a bad girl. "I got what you want, you got what I need, I'll be your baby, come and spend it on me, sad girls, bad girls." More time.

Footnote: As usual, I attended the annual KC Old Boys' Dinner last weekend, which was great as it always is, but made even more so by the presence of former headboy Carl Blackwood.

That name may not ring a bell, but Carl Blackwood PhD, destined for greatness, took up a scholarship to Trinidad, where he also addressed the plight of the underprivileged and the underclass, leading the largest industrial demonstration in the history of Trinidad.

For his efforts he was imprisoned, beaten almost to death and declared persona non grata in many countries. Undaunted, Carl's brilliance won him numerous scholarships and job offers in many countries, including the USA and Europe.

He is the inventor of many devices, among them a wind shear detector now used worldwide in the aviation industry. Carl has been cited as one of the world's most brilliant men. He is Jamaican and a product of Kingston College.
