Observer Reporter
Tuesday, September 26, 2006

The UWI Panoridim Steel Orchestra commemorates its 30th anniversary with a celebration week to be held on the University Campus, Mona from October 1 to 7.

Over the years, the Orchestra has accomplished many milestones, including overseas tours, competing successfully on several occasions in the World Steelband Festival, and fostering the development of other Jamaican steelbands.

To mark this auspicious achievement, the Orchestra will be hosting a number of public events during the celebration week including a Church Service at the University Chapel on October 1 at 7:15 am, an exhibition at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts (PSCCA) from October 1 to 7, a Lunch Hour Concert at the PSCCA on October 5 at 1pm, and steelpan workshops from October 2 to 5. The official opening of the exhibition and launch of the week takes place at the PSCCA on October 1 at 10 am.
