Smile Orange for California
Observer Reporter
Wednesday, November 01, 2006

Trevor Rhone's enduringly popular play, Smile Orange, which also spawned a popular film, is being presented in California by the Caribbean American Repertory Theatre group, with noted Jamaican actor Jeffrey Anderson-Gunter directing and starring as Ringo.

The production premieres Saturday November 18, at the Chabot College Per-forming Arts Center in Hayward, California and also features Michael Ralph, the brother of Jamaican actress Sheryl Lee Ralph and himself having been featured in the films Malcolm X, and National Lampoon's Last Resort and the TV comedy series The Bernie Mac Show.

The play, which skewers stereotypes of the tourist trade, comes to the San Francisco Bay area after a successful staging in Los Angeles.
