CALL it Wednesday Night Live. Emcee William Tavares-Finson and guest speaker Aggrey Irons formed a witty, irreverent tandem that enlivened the 10th Anniversary awards and banquet of Alliance Investment Management at the Hilton Kingston hotel.
First up, the well-known auctioneer put his gift of gab to great use, eliciting peals of laughter for his one-liners as well as his repartee with the guest speaker and also with musical guests Wayne Armond and Richie McDonald who, as Warm & Easy ("which one of you is easy?" was the emcee's question) provided sterling entertainment during dinner.

Crooner AJ Brown also provided a musical spark, particularly with his rendition of the Sarah Brightman-Andrea Bocelli global hit, Time To Say Goodbye, prompting Irons to quip: "Next time I should just give all my remarks in Italian - then you'll all just pretend to understand."
In his wide-ranging yet always on-point - and typically funny - discourse, Irons paralleled trust in the financial services sphere with trust in the national sphere, encouraging unity by firstly, debunking the notion of race.
Then, after a lacklustre stint by Rising Stars 2006 winners, One Third, it was time for the honours. Lone 10-year awardee Robert Taylor was preceded by five-year awardees Jennifer Mendes, Aneita Chang, Tamara Silvera, Patrice Taylor and Mignonette Reynolds. It was Reynolds who had the final honour of the evening in delivering the vote of thanks.
