Pioneer Jamaican musician, Jerome Hines, better known as 'Jah Jerry', died on Monday in hospital after a short illness. He was 80.

The guitarist, who was a founding member of the legendary Skatalites Band, is seen at front (in glasses), in this file photograph with a number of his contemporaries, themselves Jamaican music pioneers at a Heineken Startime vintage showcase in celebration of Jamaica's 40th anniversary of Independence in August 2002 at the Mass Camp in Kingston.
