Caught up with veteran reggae crooner Freddie McGregor earlier this week while he was on his way to the funeral service for singer Craig Dennis. McGregor revealed that he is in the process of re-recording some of his more familiar material, with the assistance of some of dancehall's biggest names.
"I am working on an album where I will be singing over some of my hits in an acoustic setting," he said. "I plan on having Sean Paul, Vybz Kartel and Mavado on some of the songs." The still untitled album will contain 40 songs. "It is going to be a double CD package and there will be something on the album for everyone. I am looking at having it released by February next year," McGregor said.
Apart from his very own musical interests, McGregor's children - Yeshemabeth, Steven and Chino - are very much active in music circles.
Yeshemabeth is working on a new album to be released in Japan, while Chino, who was featured on the hit Red Bull And Guinness last year, is releasing his debut album, Unstoppable Chino, in September.
Steven has been at the helm of the Big Ship label, leading it towards the current generation of music fans. He has been instrumental in the creation of a number of hot beat projects including Tremor, Red Bull And Guinness, 2000 and 70's and The Party. Steven recently signed with EMI Publishing.

"We might shoot the video next week, depending on how a number of factors are worked out," said Macka. Asha, from the Slingshot production house, will be directing the video. Previously, Macka and Birch teamed up for recordings on the Thrilla, Military and Stage Time rhythms.
